Masing: BN's GE14 briefing 'tilted towards Umno'

Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president James Masing has claimed that BN’s election machinery briefing for the 14th general election (GE14) was unfairly “tilted towards Umno”, rendering other component party presidents mere “wallpaper” in the discussions.
It was earlier reported that the meeting, held at BN’s headquarters at Menara Dato Onn in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday, was attended by 10 members from each component party.
After the meeting, Masing aired his grouses to Borneo Post Online.
“It was a briefing by Umno officers on the machinery for the 14th general election (GE14)... the whole programme was tilted towards Umno.
“Even the backdrop showed only Umno top guns and none of the other component (BN) party presidents, as if the rest are just wallpapers for mere decoration… so we were not too happy,” Masing said.

Umno should not dominate a BN gathering to the extent that other component parties felt they were there just to make up the numbers, Masing added.
Besides Umno and PRS, some of the 13 BN component parties are the MCA, MIC, Gerakan, Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) and the People’s Progressive Party (MyPPP).
Borneo Post Online reached out to SUPP president Sim Kui Hian, PDP Anthony Nogeh and several other PBB leaders, but they all declined to comment on the briefing.

Meanwhile, Masing, who is Sarawak deputy chief minister, reasoned that Sarawak BN was perhaps more prepared for elections than the BN machinery in Peninsular Malaysia.
“For Sarawak, no problem… maybe for Peninsular Malaysia, they have to be more prepared,” he told the portal.
Though a date for GE14 is yet to be announced, it must be held before August next year.- Mkini
