SEREMBAN (Bernama): Police have detained an unlicensed moneylender for threatening a product supervisor of a private college.
Nilai district police chief Supt Mohd. Nor Marzukee Besar said the 34-year-old suspect was arrested at his house in Rasah here at about noon last Monday (Feb 18).
"Based on preliminary investigations, the victim borrowed RM14,000 from the suspect in 2015 and had made repayments amounting to RM40,000, including interest.
"However, the suspect allegedly asked for more money from the victim.
"The victim is also believed to have stood as a guarantor for two friends, who did not pay their loans totalling RM120,000 and had since fled," he said in a statement on Saturday (Feb 23).
Mohd. Nor Marzukee said the victim lodged a police report after a group of men approached his mother-in-law asking about the loan.
The suspect, who has been remanded for three days, is expected to be brought to the court on Monday to be charged with criminal intimidation. – Bernama
