Muhammad Aimanuddin Julaihi, 31, who was unrepresented, pleaded guilty after the charges were read to him before judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah.
Rohatul handed down the sentence after considering the facts of the case, the accused's mitigation plea, and the prosecution's submissions.
For eight of the charges, the accused committed carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent against a 13-year-old male student.
The offences occurred at a bedroom, an office, a dining hall, a library, and a narrow lane at the tahfiz centre in Bukit Rambai between May and July 2025.
For the remaining two charges, the accused admitted to sodomising two other students, aged 14 and 16, in his room and in the library between May and July 2025.
All 10 charges were framed under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
In his mitigation plea, Aimanuddin asked for the minimum jail term and for the sentences to run concurrently, stating he supports his mother and an ill brother.
Deputy public prosecutor Nor Asnini Kamarudin urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence given that the case involved three child victims and that sexual offences were becoming increasingly rampant.
"The court and the prosecution have a responsibility to teach the accused and society a lesson so that this offence is not repeated in the future," she said.
Rohatul sentenced the accused to 10 years' jail and one stroke of the cane for each of the first eight charges, and 11 years' jail and two strokes of the cane for each of the two sodomy charges.
The court ordered the jail sentences to run concurrently from the date of the accused's arrest on Aug 3. - NST
