Since 1MDB has done well, Pandikar should allow questions

YOURSAY | ‘After all, 1MDB has helped save us RM200 billion in electricity bill.’
FellowMalaysian: Opposition Leader Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's questions concerning 1MDB and PM's recent trip to meet the US President Donald Trump are all relevant and what the public would like to know as well.
For example, every Malaysian who cared about the country and its leaders would be keen to find out how much the government paid the lobbyists to fix the Najib-Trump meet on Sept 12 in Washington? Why did Najib choose to stay at Trump International Hotel, and at what cost?
The 1MDB questions are pertinent, respectfully structured without being obtrusive and neither was any matters raised considered under the Official Secrets Act (OSA).
1MDB was fined RM115.8 million in April 2016 by Bank Negara for “failure to fully comply with directions under the FSA (Financial Services Act)” but we have not heard from Finance Ministry nor 1MDB board on what had happened to the US$1.83 billion that Bank Negara has ordered them to restitute to the country.
RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: The House speaker has to be fair. The opposition MPs are the people's representatives in Parliament. Questions from them are questions from the people.
As such, it is imperative that the speaker should not prevent questions directed at Najib Razak, who as the PM must answer them truthfully.
Anonymous 242641505703475: Why is the House speaker blocking 1MBD-related matters? In any democratic nation, 1MDB is an "important, public, urgent" issue - the three ingredients for a parliamentary debate.
Why is he blocking it? Was he ordered not to allow a debate? Is he afraid of debates escalating into a "big war ", with GE14 just around the corner?
The Analyser: Who really cares anymore? It is just a handful of largely irrelevant Pakatan Harapan politicians who are so politically inept that they don't even know what a politician should be doing.
Then there are their ill-informed and easily-manipulated supporters who are of absolutely no significance. The rest of the nation has moved on to more important matters - matters of importance to the people of Malaysia.
Myviews: The Analyser ended his comment with "matters of importance to the people of Malaysia." What he's trying to say is: "How to steal some more. Move on."
Not Convinced: The 51 percent of those who voted for the opposition in GE13 may be “ill-informed and easily manipulated”, but they are not of “absolutely no significance”.
And since 1MDB has helped save us RM200 billion in electricity bill (as claimed by MO1), House speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia has no reason to fear a parliamentary debate.
Hamzah Paiman: If the rakyat cannot get an answer from the Parliament on how their money or taxpayers’ money is being used or misused, then where else could they turn to.
The speaker, who is under oath to dutifully carry out his responsibility, should not try to cover for others. Remember Allah is watching your every action. The curse would befall, if not you, then your family.
Ronald: It is time that that opposition move a motion of no-confidence against the speaker in the Dewan Rakyat.
It does not matter if they lose the motion, but Pandikar must be recorded in the House records as the worst speaker we have ever had in the history of Malaysia.
NNFC: Why is Sabah's average household income the lowest in the country? It has lots of natural resources like timber, crude oil, etc. It is also one of the best tourism spots.
Has the BN government been fair to the state in giving oil royalty? Is the state BN government also fair in developing the state so that everyone benefits? Ask yourselves.
Anonymous 2436471476414726: 1MDB is just one scandal where leaders allegedly steal the rakyat's money. There are many other cases of corruption, leakages, abuse of power, embezzlement, etc, where billions of ringgit are lost and squandered by the few politicians and officials.
These monies could be used for many development projects to provide employment and business opportunities for the locals, which in turn will improve their standard of living.
If not for such leakages, GST (goods and services tax) would not be required and subsidies not slashed. This will, in turn, result in lower prices of consumer goods.
This, the rakyat must be made aware of. For this to happen, there must be a change in the government. So vote wisely come GE14.
Victor Johan: Do the Sabahans want a temporary fix to their ordeal by getting handouts during the election period? If yes, keep voting for Umno and the BN partners.
The only permanent solution to their woes is to vote and elect candidates from the Warisan party and the Pakatan Harapan coalition, and establishing a new federal and state government.
Give the new government a minimum of two terms and then evaluate their performance. Indeed, there are no other shortcuts to end the people's present woes.
Nononsense: It’s hard to have food on the table when the country is being run to the ground. Sabah has been neglected, but the rural folks cannot understand why this is so.
Give them some salted fish, rice and tobacco, and they will vote for you. It’s that simple. 1MDB? What 1MDB?
Boeyks: Have the Sabahans missed the full picture? How can they claim that putting food on their table is their main issue?
Don’t they realise that if the cause of the corruption and kleptocracy is not stopped, then trying to put food on the table is going to be a perpetual problem, which will come up more frequently in the future?
The only way to solve this problem is to solve these problems so that putting food on the table may not be a problem anymore, especially with a clean and honest government.- Mkini
