Car jacking cases by RAMMING FROM BEHIND on the rise - M'sian police warn
KUALA LUMPUR - There have been 44 cases of car robberies reported in Kuala Lumpur since June last year, using the modus operandi of knocking into the victim's car from behind.
Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters CID Chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad said among the cars that were targeted were Toyota Hilux, Toyota Camry and Honda CRV.
"These incidences were often reported to happen in Brickfields, Cheras and Sentul. Most of them involved roads exiting Kuala Lumpur to Selangor. There were 33 cases reported between June to December last year while in January, 11 cases have been reported," he said in a statement here today.
Zainuddin said such crime were usually committed by groups of two to four from 6am to 12pm and between 6pm to midnight.
He said the criminals would ram the targeted victim's car from behind and when the victim stops to inspect or discuss about the accident, the suspects would brandish weapons, before escaping with the car of the victims.
