Cops arrest man for allegedly insulting Guan Eng


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man for allegedly verbally insulting Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
The suspect was believed to have created a ruckus at an event Lim had attended at KL Sports City in Bukit Jalil on Wednesday (Jan 30).
The incident occurred as Lim was leaving the closing ceremony of the 8TV Chinese New Year Grand Bazaar there.
It was learned that the man, wearing a white robe, was standing just metres from where Lim and his delegation were leaving.
Police noticed him acting suspiciously and asked him what he was holding, as he looked like he was concealing something.
The suspect at first refused to answer before becoming hostile towards police.
He was believed to have yelled at the police and continued yelling while they attempted to calm him down.
Police were forced to pin the suspect down and arrested him.
City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the man was arrested for behaving suspiciously and hurling foul language against the minister and police personnel.

"We have remanded the suspect for three days to help with investigations," he said on Thursday (Jan 31), adding that the case was being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.-Star
