Sacked Sabah 12 can appeal, says Anwar

Twelve PKR members from Sabah who were suspended from the party for seeking to form a new party could still appeal to its disciplinary committee, said PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim.

NONEHe said this was because the 12 members retracted the idea and did not launch the party they formed.

"I hope they will take this in good faith and I also ask the leadership not to make it complicated.

"We have to give them a chance to appeal. This is only a procedural matter," he told reporters after chairing the Sabah PKR liaison committee meeting in Kinarut, Sabah today.

He said the members were reported to have applied to register Parti Cinta Sabah with the Registrar of Societies last December following PKR vice-president Dr Jeffrey Kitingan's dissatisfaction with the PKR central leadership's interference in Sabah PKR's matters.

Jeffery: Anwar shouldn't come

Meanwhile, Anwar said he was always in constant communication with Jeffrey and believed Jeffrey's advice that he not come to Sabah today was to let the Sabah PKR leadership handle the state matters without dragging him (Anwar) into it.

"But I'm not going to suggest that I fully agree with what he said. I can't cancel at the last minute because this is a scheduled visit and after that I have to go to Sarawak and then to Permatang Pauh before Hari Raya," he said.

Jeffrey, who arrived at the end of the press conference, said he had also suggested Anwar not to come today as it was also nomination day for 10 PKR divisions in Sabah.
