Anwar: Better to Be Governed Under Honest Non-Muslim Than Corrupt Muslim

by Dajmarizal Zolkipli

PETALING JAYA, 28 NOVEMBER, 2010: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim told members of congress that it is better to be governed under a good and clean non-Muslim rather than living under a Muslim who is corrupted.

In his speech for the closing of the PKR Congress, he also said that he would not be surprised should the media make negative reports about the congress as most of them are owned by the government.

Touching on the issue where his wife and party president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail being labeled as a traitor for suggesting that Malay supremacy should be wiped out, Anwar defended her statement and said that he, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang have always endorsed the special position of the Malay, but without restricting other races.

Anwar added that the two leaders also endorse Bahasa Melayu as the national language, but without restricting the usage of other languages. On top of that, according to Anwar, the Opposition leaders also are in agreement with Islam as the official religion, though it is the official religion of Malaysia, other religion should be allowed to be practiced too.

Anwar ended his speech by urging members of the party to fight with full sincerity for the next general election. - Malaysian Digest
