'Underdog' PAS hopes to spring 'surprise' today

CENTRE OF ATTENTION ... PAS candidate Normala Sudirman, who stole the limelight throughout the campaign

(Harakah Daily) - Even during the final minutes of the stipulated campaigning period, PAS remains optimistic that it will be able to pull a surprise in today's by-election in Tenang.

PAS's Tenang by-election director Salahudin Ayub said the party machinery, having worked their level best during the campaign period, now leaves it to Divine judgement.

Speaking to Harakahdaily just minutes after the campaign period drew to a conclusion at midnight Saturday, Salahuddin expressed satisfaction with the smooth manner the various campaign programmes had been executed.

"Tonight, we will concentrate on security and our machinery is well prepared for that," he said, and expressed hope that PAS, considered the 'underdog' in this traditional UMNO stronghold, would be able to spring a "surprise".

Polling starts at 8.00 am at 12 polling centres, which have 32 voting streams.
