Perkasa, Mamak group bring traffic to a standstill

Protesters accuse CM's political secretary Ng Wei Aik of humiliating Bangladeshi married to a local and call for his sacking.

GEORGE TOWN: About 300 protesters from Perkasa and Suara Anak Anak Mamak Pulau Pinang caused a massive congestion when they marched against the flow of traffic at noon today.

Their target: Komtar assemblyman and Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s political secretary Ng Wei Aik who has been accused of humiliating a Bangladeshi married to a local woman.

The protesters demanded that Ng quit immediately as Komtar assemblyman and also called on Lim to sack Ng as his political secretary.

Police detained 11 people including the protest leader, Perkasa’s north-east district chief Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin, for the commotion.

All were released after having their statements recorded at the city police headquarters.
Anak-Anak Mamak leader Mohamed Ghani Abdul Jiman, who was his usual boisterous uncouth self, however, was not detained.

The protesters gathered outside Continental Hotel in upper Penang Road at 12 noon before marching against the flow of traffic in the direction of Komtar, a kilometer away.

Once they reached the Komtar in Lebuh Teck Soon, the protesters, with some sitting on the road, chanted anti-Pakatan Rakyat, anti-Ng and anti-Lim slogans for over an hour.

Ng denies allegation

About 100 police personnel, including two Light Strike Force (LSF) units, were at the scene. The demonstration caused massive traffic congestion all over the city at peak lunch hour.

Sarimah Packeer Mohamed, 43, lodged a police report last week alleging Ng humiliated her husband, a Bangladeshi national, in public during Ng’s visit to a fire site in Jalan Gurdwara.

The fire razed three shophouses on Nov 22. Ng allegedly accused Sarimah and her husband of masterminding the fire which originated from a nearby unit owned by a senior citizen.

Ng denied Sarimah’s allegations, claiming that he only demanded Sarimah and her husband to close their illegal goods recycling business.

Police recorded a statement from Ng to assist in the case investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code. This was not the first time Ng had been a target.

Earlier this year, Ng was accused of telling off a Nasi Kandar restaurant operator to “go back to India.”
After the protest today, Rizuad, accompanied by colleagues, handed over a memorandum to Chief Minister’s official representative Zuliana Aziz.

  1. Sabah is Malaysia's biggest tragedy, A resource-rich state has grown into the poorest. It has the biggest UMNO membership in the Country after Aliens-turned-residents almost approached 1 million. Alien-voting & election rigging. Almost 1 million IC given to foreigners to vote against genuine citizens of Sabah. Crime and treason by Mahathir?

  2. Almost 1 million NRICs given to foreigners to win election against genuine citizens of Sabah. All the revenues from oil & gas, sucked dry by the Federal Gov't and so indirectly by UMNO/BN with little or nothing left for Sabah & Sarawak. Just compare: Scotland in Great Britain and Quebec in Canada had an open, honest & fair national referendum on cessation/separation. Any talk of independence and your ex Sabah CM Tun Faud Donald Stephens died in a crash. Sabah & Sarawak are a total tragedy, not even a proper trunk road! The natives lack electricity and drinking water while Criminals bought submarines and built twin towers costing multi-billions for kick-backs; all cronies live in palaces. Outrageous! BN's evil is earth-shaking. Finish them off in the coming election. !

  3. RM33 million an hour! RM800million a day. Malaysia Chronicle: “For the first decade... Malaysia has lost a staggering RM1.08 trillion (US$338 billion = RM800million a day) in illicit outflows which is the fourth highest in the developing world…The Global Financial Integrity (GFI) reported in January that RM930 billion flowed out of Malaysia from 2000 to 2008.
An economist at Morgan Stanley in Singapore said that the Malaysia might have lost as much as US$100 billion since the early 1980s to corruption (RM300 billion = 300,000 million). Najib & Dr MM, & UMNO cronies are some of the biggest criminals in modern times, they with all the UMNO and BN cronies have destroyed their own country with apartheid, lies, deception, cheating; with mis-mangement, thefts & plunder to the tune of hundreds of billion if RM$. They should be charged for treason and punished severely. I write as a neutral observer from NZ - rated as one of the world's most democratic & transparent countries.

  4. In Pakistan the Courts challenged the President, and 2 Prime Ministers one after another on corruption charges. Now in Egypt the Judiciary blocks President Morsi’s attempt to take advantage of the Constitution. In Malaysia? Dr MM has destroyed the independence of the judiciary, unleashed racism, apartheid, colossal mismanagement, nepotism, rampant corruption, aliens-turned-residents approaching 1 million (esp in Sabah) alien-voting & election rigging, plus all sort of crimes. He still thinks and talks like a national hero. In fact he is one the most despised and hated people in Asia. We’d love to see him brought to justice and punished. http://www.transparency.org/country#NZL I watch & speak from NZ - rated the World’s top for democracy & non-corruption.
