UPLIFT NIGHT FOOD STALLS

THE Tanjong Aru market has been renovated recently and now looks tidy and clean. The weekly Sunday Tamu has also been moved to here from the back lane of the shops near the Daily Express complex.
The market saw a bit of life, but unfortunately the numbers of hawkers selling their goods here has not increased and also is their customers. There are still plenty of empty stalls and tables available in the market, and for those who are interested to do some little business in selling vegetable, fruits, and grocery can come to apply for the stalls. The general publics are encouraged to come to buy their food staff and to support the business here.
The Sabah DAP Vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie and his assistant Stephen Yarman visited the Tg Aru market and this is what they have found out. Edward felt that it is about time that the authorities like DBKK, the Tourism Promotion Board and the Ministry of Local Government must come to make this old market place lively again.
This is used to be a place where many people from Kapayan and the Tanjong Aru area to come to do the purchase of food staff. There was a popular night time food stalls where many people loved the 'mi goreng', pisang goreng' and the cakes.
Edward said it will be nice that the DBKK will work to bring back the night time food stalls to make use of the area here and to create a popular place for the people to go to during the night hours. This shall bring about an opportunity for the people to make some extra money for their family during their off duties time at night. The place will surely be popular especially for those people who like to eat in the hawker stalls.
The street lights here around the market is also needed attention, and Edward hopes that DBKK can come to check on the street lights here to ensure all the lights in the town area are working properly. - Sabahkini
