'No intention to politicise with Bersih question'

SMK Aminuddin Baki in Johor Baru has denied playing politics after a photograph of the school's SPM Moral Studies trial examination paper, describing the Bersih 3.0 protest as an illegal rally, was circulated on the Internet.
"We had no intention to politicise (this matter). We are not partisan to any political party.

"We only emphasise good values and about the damage that happened (in the rally)," the school's principal Wan Hajasham Harun said when contacted by Malaysiakini today.

The exam paper carries a photograph of the April 28 rally and is followed by the question: "Is it appropriate for a citizen to participate in an illegal assembly?".

The correct answer was: "Not appropriate."
Asked if the school will apologise following uproar on the Internet, Wan Hajasham replied: "I will respond to the district education department and the (education) ministry if it is raised".

She added that thus far, the matter had not been brought up.

Yesterday, Deputy Education Minister Puad Zarkashi said there was "no problem" with the question so long as it did not touch on racial and religious sensitivities or insult any individuals.
Caught by surprise

Meanwhile, the spotlight has now turned on SMK Seri Jementah, Segamat, after netizens claimed another Moral Studies trial examination paper with a similar question originated from the school.

When contacted, the school's principal Janisah Sainon said the allegation came as a surprise to her.

"I just got to know this, I'm not sure if there is such a thing.

"I didn't expect this... Are you sure it's this school? I will have to check with my moral (subject) teacher," she said.
However, she stressed that politics has never been part of the school's moral studies.

"We don't bring politics or race into our school. For moral classes, students are only taught good values, we don't touch on any political party," she said.
