ANOTHER Malaysia Day passes by meaninglessly

ANOTHER Malaysia Day passes by meaninglessly
We grieve about losing Singapore, but do we really appreciate the inclusion of Sabah and Sarawak?
Another September 16, the birthday of Malaysia passes by meaninglessly without any meaningful agenda for the future of the country has upset a PAS leader.
“The day Malaysia is born is extremely important, in fact, it is more important than the day the British left this land. PAS views that the government must make September 16 annually as a day of unity and remembrance of Malaysia formation,” said PAS information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man in a statement today.
Tuan Ibrahim also urged the government to put more effort to make the day a joyous occasion for all.
“Because of government’s failure in making September 16 as an important day, there are still people in Sabah and Sarawak who feel that Peninsular (Malaysia) is colonising them.
These voices showed that the national unity among the people is yet to achieve,” he said.
The Pahang PAS commissioner also urged the government to pay attention to solve issues such as inequality in development, poverty, illiteracy and unfair economic policy like the cabotage policy that inflates goods prices in Sabah and Sarawak.
“The government must realise its insensitiveness that took 46 years to recognise the importance of declaring Malaysia’s birthday as a holiday. If not for Pakatan Rakyat, September 16 would have remained as an ordinary day.
After this, it is hoped that September 16 every year will not be allowed to pass by without any meaningful agenda for the country’s future,” urged Tuan Ibrahim.
