IF worried about ALLAH abuse, strengthen law to prevent proselytization BUT DON'T BAN - Husam
The government should strengthen laws to prevent proselytization of Muslims if it worries about wrong usage of the word Allah by other religions.
According to PAS vice president Husam Musa, the Malays who worried about the misused of the word Allah by Christians to confuse the Muslims are those who do not understand the federal constitution.
“The Allah polemic is not a religious issue but a political one. For some Malays, they are worried that if (Christians) use Allah, Muslims will get confuse and embrace Christianity.
Part of their worry is due to their ignorance on the provision provided under the federal constitution that other religions cannot, at any time, propagate their religion to Muslims.
The protection from the constitution is already very strong,” said Husam during a free and easy meeting with Putrajaya residents last Sunday.
As such, the Kelantan PAS deputy commissioner III said the government should enforce the law based on what enshrined in the constitution to address the concern of certain groups who worried about Christians using the word Allah in the Malay-language Bible.
1 country, 2 laws a bad idea & reflects weak leadership
Husam disagreed that the country should have two sets of law to address the Allah issue, where only in Sabah and Sarawak, the word Allah could be used by other religions.
“Malaysia has 14 states, two are allowed to use the word Allah, and 12 can’t. Can we imagine in the country has two different sets of laws.
Our friends in Sabah and Sarawak have read the Malay-language Bible since their birth where the word Allah is used. It will be sensitive to Christians. But why do they embrace Islam? Because when they said Allah, which is the only God, (they will eventually question) how can the only God have children? In the end, they embrace Islam,” added Husam.
Strengthen your own faith before attacking others
Earlier, another PAS vice president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man had advised Muslims to strengthen their faith instead of worrying about other religions using words deemed exclusive to Muslims in response to the controversy that arose from the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS)’s raid on the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM).
Tuan Ibrahim pointed out that the crux of the matter was on the fear that the usage of several terms exclusive to Muslims by non-Muslims would create confusion, misunderstanding and in the end lead to apostasy.
“The more important question is where’s the government’s effort to strengthen the faith of Muslims? Why Islamic subject is not made compulsory in our education system?
Why other subjects are deemed more important from Islamic subject to the extent they are made compulsory passed but not the Islamic subject? How many hours are utilised to strengthen the faith of Muslims? Have the mosques being utilised properly to strengthen the faith of the congregate?” questioned Tuan Ibrahim. - Harakahdaily
