Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said's revelation of a "charge sheet" that was said to be drawn up last May was the first time the information was being made in the public domain, DAP said today.
The party's parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang also questioned if the minister had the permission to declassify information about the said charge sheet, presumably referring to the one in relation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and the RM42 million SRC International Sdn Bhd scandal.
"Did Azalina receive the necessary official clearance to declassify this information, or is she guilty of breach of the Official Secrets Act (OSA) for firstly divulging public information on this so-called 'charge sheet' said to be drawn up in May 2015?
"With such 'friends', Najib may not need 'enemies'."
Azalina said yesterday that former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s allegation that he was shown "proof" by former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, was admission of a high-level conspiracy to topple the prime minister.
The minister in the Prime Minister's Department added that this would be a coup against the democratic process and the decision of the people at the last general election.
She was responding to Muhyiddin's claim that he was briefed by Gani of alleged "criminal proof" against Najib.
Azalina said the fact that Gani had privately shared classified legal information with Muhyiddin, a member of the Cabinet and Umno with vested interest was not only unethical but also a breach of the OSA.
But Lim asked today if Azalina was suggesting that Muhyiddin lodge a police report over the information he got from Gani about Najib.
The Gelang Patah MP said the next question begging to be answered was what guarantee was there that the police, the attorney-general and other investigating agencies that the report would be investigated without fear or favour.
"Or would a special prosecutor of unquestioned independence and credibility be appointed, together with a team of independent investigators empanelled to assist to carry out the investigations into Muhyiddin’s report?"
