Govt issuing ‘conflicting statements’ on ABC documentary

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang says the Najib Razak government should make up its mind on exactly what they feel about the Four Corners documentary aired over ABC.
kit-siangPETALING JAYA: Lim Kit Siang says the government is “clearly in two minds” over a documentary by an Australian news agency about controversies linked to Prime Minister Najib Razak.
The DAP supremo said this in a statement following the “conflicting statements” issued by government officials after the airing of a documentary by Four Corners of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
Lim noted that the Prime Minister’s Office said the documentary confirmed Najib’s statement and the findings of Malaysian authorities that the money deposited into his personal bank accounts was indeed a donation from a Saudi royalty.
The Foreign Ministry, however, the Gelang Patah MP pointed out, accused the Four Corners programme of being “one-sided” in attacking the PM’s accountability and the government system and said the documentary had ignored clarifications.
The Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, Lim said, accused it of retaliating and being vindictive because police arrested two ABC reporters in Sarawak recently.
“The Najib government must make up its mind on the ABC Four Corners documentary, instead of coming out with conflicting positions.”
The Four Corners documentary, titled “State of Fear: Money and Murder in Malaysia” also attempted to link the murders of several individuals with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad investigations and the prime minister.
