PETALING JAYA: Monorail operator Rapid Rail has set up an investigation committee to probe an incident where a two-car monorail train was hit by a bore pile crane that intruded onto its elevated track.
Rapid Rail's chief operating officer Mohd Ariffin Idris said an empty two-car train travelling from the Imbi Station towards the Hang Tuah Station was damaged due to an unauthorised movement of a bore pile crane from the Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) project.
Mohd Ariffin added that the crane had hit the train that was on its way back to KL Sentral Station.
He noted that the incident occurred at 12.15am on Sunday (Aug 25).
"The affected train was brought back to the depot through a train-coupling process and it reached the depot in Brickfields at 3.03am.
"The train driver Mohd Zafar Hamid, 52, was unhurt," he said.
Mohd Ariffin Idris also said a police report has been lodged at the Jalan Bandar police station.
He noted that a stop work order (SWO) has been served on the BBCC contractor. - Star
