Covid-19: One of three new clusters in KK involved a courier company, says Masidi

KOTA KINABALU: One of the three new clusters here originated from a courier company, says state Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.

In the daily Covid-19 updates for the state on Friday (Oct 30), Masidi said the Sembulan cluster involves 12 cases.

“Meanwhile, two other new clusters are Telipok (10) from screenings done on rice mill workers, and Rumah Merah (57) involving those currently housed in the temporary detention centre in Menggatal, ” he added.

Masidi - who is tasked to oversee the pandemic in Sabah - said that bed capacities were increased on Friday (Oct 30) in the quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC) with 33 additional beds, bringing the total to 7,892 beds.

“The total occupancy of beds today is 48.73%, ” he said in a statement on Friday.

On another development, he said to date 104,209 food baskets have been distributed to the targeted groups statewide.

“The issue of food supply within enhanced movement control order locality at Taman Semarak, Tawau has also been taken actions of by the district disaster operation control centre (PKOB), ” said Masidi.

He also expressed the state government’s appreciation of the involvement of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in assisting those affected following the conditional MCO ruling.

“To smoothen the process of food aid distribution, the government has determined that all assistance should be channelled through the respective district PKOBs, ” said Masidi. - Star
