Over 14,000 affordable homes built in Perak

A total of 14,004 units of affordable homes have been completely built in Perak, far from the state’s five-year target to build 50,000 units between 2018 and 2023.

State Housing, Local Government and Tourism Committee chairperson Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said the spread of Covid-19 had caused unexpected problems and badly impacted the housing development in the state.

“However, the state government is committed to ensuring that all housing development projects will be implemented as planned,” she said in reply to Aznel Ibrahim (BN-Pengkalan Hulu) at the Perak State Assembly sitting in Ipoh today.

Aznel had wanted to know the number of affordable houses that have been completed and handed over to the residents so far.

Nolee (Bersatu-Tualang Sekah) said 15,089 units of the houses were under construction, while 22,085 others were still in the planning stage at the relevant government departments, agencies and state subsidiaries.

On the housing projects implemented by private developers, she said a total of 1,663 units of Rumah Perakku I (low-cost), 412 units of Rumah Perakku II (medium-cost), 1,032 units of Rumah Perakku III (affordable) and 1,476 units under the open category houses were built as of July this year.
