Kemaman candidate will not be ‘ordinary’ MP - Anwar

KEMAMAN POLLS | Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has hinted that BN candidate Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor will not be an ordinary MP if he wins the Kemaman parliamentary seat on Dec 2.

Instead, the Pakatan Harapan chairperson said, the former commander of the armed forces will be given the task of acting as a liaison between the federal and state governments.

“I hope, and with his position, I believe that if he becomes an MP, he will not want to be like an ordinary MP.

“Of course, we will assign him tasks so the government and prime minister will improve,” said Anwar at the Madani Unity Mega Ceramah in Chukai, Kemaman, last night.

Also present were Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, and DAP organisation secretary Steven Sim.

In his speech to over 1,000 BN and Harapan supporters, Anwar stated that he was there to give encouragement to the candidates and voters and hoped for a change in their favour.

“That's why I came here for Affandi, to support him and we ask Kemaman to break the record.

“Appoint a person who has served the country, the commander of the armed forces is not an ordinary person,” said Anwar.

“To get there (position), he went through various tests and obstacles, he had to have an excellent record. His record as the commander of the armed forces is a good record with no flaws.

“At least, the people of Kemaman remember and honour the services of the people who take care of every inch of this blessed earth.”

Manifesto for Kemaman

Earlier, Affandi also introduced a manifesto dubbed the socio-economic plan for the people of Kemaman (Erat-Kemaman).

The manifesto contains five main offers with the tagline “dari ambe to deme, Kemamangku” (From me to you, my Kemaman).

In the five offers, Affandi pledged to improve the finances and economy of the people; empower the youth and the elderly, push for sustainable development and sustainability of the area, and empower people’s education.
