MyWatch adviser quizzed over police tweets

S Gobikrishnan, and adviser to anti-crime watchdog MyWatch, was quizzed by the police yesterday for a series of tweets which he posted after the group's chairperson R Sri Sanjeevan was shot.

Describing the session as a "waste of time", Gobikrishnan toldMalaysiakini that the police were mostly interested in the tweets, which were critical of police investigations about the shooting, but not the shooting itself.

"There was only one or two questions about Sanjeevan. The rest were about my tweets regarding the police," he said.

"They wanted to know why I tweeted to criticise the police, and what made me say the things I said."

The police took 90 minutes to record his statements at the Batu Caves police station.

"I think they should spend more time trying to find Sanjeevan's shooter and get to the bottom of this as soon as possible," he said.
'Enforcers' to blame?

Gobikrishnan had claimed in his Twitter account on July 28 that the underworld had carried out the shooting under directive from "enforcers".

He had also questioned the police's wisdom in arresting Sanjeevan's friend Ramesh Balakrishnan allegedly on a drug-related offence shortly after the shooting.

Sanjeevan was shot at about 4.30pm on Saturday, by two men on a motorcycle in Jempol, Negri Sembilan.

He is currently warded at the Serdang Hospital and is awaiting surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his ribcage.

His condition has been described as critical but stable, but is said to be improving gradually over the past two days.
