Rare praise from PSM after eviction order delay

The Selangor government's handling of an eviction order for six families residing in Sungai Jelok, Kajang has earned praise from Parti Sosialis Malaysia central committee member S Arutchelvan.
According to Arutchelvan, district officer Zulkefli Khalid had taken the initiative to meet the families today.
Among other issues, it was decided that the eviction order would be extended by a month to Nov 23.
"As for the relocation of the families, which was previously promised (by the authorities), the district officer said his office had prepared a report.
"The matter is expected to be discussed by the Selangor Economic Action Council which will be chaired by the menteri besar," said Arutchelvan in a statement today.
On behalf of the six families, Arutchelvan, who is acting as their advisor, expressed gratitude to Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, Kajang assemblyperson Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Zulkefli, Kapar MP M Manivannan, social activists, NGOs, political parties and concerned citizens who have been sympathetic to the cause of the affected families.
He explained that the six families were headed by former Kajang hospital staff members and have been residing on the land for five decades.
They have been asked to vacate the land in order to make way for a new public women's and children's hospital.
Enforcement officers had initially attempted to carry out the eviction order on Oct 23. It was not carried out following intervention by activists.- Mkini
