Police to arrest blogger Papagomo for spreading ‘lies’ on Low Yat brawl

Police says blogger Papagomo and several others will be arrested for spreading false information relating to the phone theft incident at Low Yat Plaza, Kuala Lumpur. – The Malaysian Insider filepic, July 13, 2015.

Police will arrest the blogger known as Papagomo, among others, for publishing false information that led to a brawl at the Low Yat Plaza yesterday.

"We will arrest him unless he surrenders," said ‎Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar today.

"There are others but if we mention their names, they will run. But Papagomo, we are telling him that we will arrest him."

Khalid said that the blogger, whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, had put up false information about what had actually happened in Low Yat on Saturday.

"The incident was, in fact, a theft but an accomplice‎ who was freed went back and told stories about the incident, claiming that he was cheated.

"This is a lie and many on social media made it worse by spreading false information and stories‎

“I think everyone knows that among them are Papagomo and several others, ‎and I have given a directive that they be arrested‎," Khalid told reporters after a walkabout at Low Yat Plaza in Kuala Lumpur this evening.
