File court injunction against BR1M, portal dares Mahathir

A portal aligned to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has challenged his arch nemesis to take his accusations concerning BR1M to the next level.
In an article published today, MyKMU.net asked if Dr Mahathir Mohamad had the gumption to file an injunction against the government handout on the grounds that it is a form of bribery.
The portal said those who accused BRIM of being a form of corruption are "stupid".
It said this is because a person must apply for the aid to determine if he or she is eligible to receive it, and there is also a process to appeal in the event of a rejection.
"Do you apply for bribery?" it asked.
Furthermore, the portal pointed out that BR1M has been given out for many years, but nobody has filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
"Come on lah, seven million received (BR1M), not even one (lodged a report).
"Those who talk a lot about BR1M being a form of corruption like Mahathir are also the same, they talk but no reports are filed," it said.
The portal pointed out that BR1M, among others, is derived from the government savings made from the eradication of subsidies for fuel and sugar.
Mahathir has always been critical of the payout scheme, claiming that it is flawed and should be stopped.
He also claimed that Najib believes that "cash is king" and therefore continues with the scheme to garner support.
The government, he said, should instead be making available opportunities for the people and providing the necessary training.
Najib introduced BR1M in 2012, which he defended as being essential for the needy and helped expand the domestic economy. -Mkini
