Guan Eng must leave Sarawak a day before polling

S'WAK POLLS Sarawak continues to tighten its immigration leash around opposition leaders, with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng now being ordered to leave before polling day for the state election.
In a Twitter posting, the Penang chief minister said he was only allowed to remain in the state until May 5.
“After 20 minutes wait, allowed entry into Sarawak only till May 5. Not allowed in after that until Sarawak election on May 7 is over,” he tweeted.
Earlier today, it was reported that PKR deputy president Azmin Ali was told to leave the state on May 2.
The Selangor menteri besar said no reason was given for this.
Sarawak, which has an its own immigration laws, normally grants a 90-day pass for visitors from the peninsula.
However, the state reserves the right to bar entry to anybody and limit the number of days it allows visitors.
Prior to this, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang faced no hurdles.
Whereas Sarawak Chief Minister Adenan Satem said he would consider allowing PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her daughter, PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah into the state if they asked him nicely.

Responding to this, Wan Azizah told reporters in Kuala Lumpur that she and Nurul would write to Adenan.
The state immigration authorities have banned a long list of opposition politicians as well as one or two linked to Umno.
Adenan had said that those denied entry could jeapordise harmony in Sarawak, while the opposition accused the chief minister of preventing them from carrying out legitimate political activities as enshrined under the federal constitution. -Mkini
