(The Star) – Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad (pic) has been appointed as the new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner.
Dzulkifli, a veteran in the civil service, was the head of the National Revenue Recovery Enforcement Team of the Attorney-General’s Chambers before being appointed chief commissioner.
He takes over from outgoing chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, who officially steps down from his post on Aug 1, but starts his leave Friday.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa announced that Dzulkifli’s tenure will be until July 31 2021.
Abu Kassim’s contract as chief commissioner was supposed to end on Dec 4, 2018, but the date was brought forward to Aug 1 this year upon his request.
He will, however, remain in the Malaysian civil service until his mandatory retirement in 2020.
Abu Kassim will also be serving as a lecturer, researcher and a consultant at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) after stepping down from MACC.
He was sworn in as MACC chief commissioner on Jan 1, 2010.
Ali also announced that current MACC deputy chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali has been transferred to the Immigration Department and appointed as the new director-general effective Aug 1, replacing current director-general Datuk Seri Sakib Kusmi.
