“Dissolution of Negeri Sembilan DUN is the best way to end the crisis”

UMNO DEPUTY President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan believes the best way to end a prolonged crisis in Negeri Sembilan is the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

He said returning the mandate to the people to decide who is best to govern the state should be the right step. He added that the current Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun lost confidence after the 14 UMNO State Assemblymen withdrew support for him last month.

“If Aminuddin no longer has the confidence of the majority of the assemblymen, he should dissolve the DUN and we return they mandate to the people to decide who they want to govern Negeri Sembilan.

“Do not make noises, it causes the people to feel uneasy. Already with the unstable world situation with wars, so let us do it properly,” he said.

Alternatively, he suggested that a DUN sitting should be held to give the chief minister a chance to prove that he still holds a majority in the assembly.

Mohamad, also the Rembau MP, said UMNO joined the unity government solely to manage the country together, not to cause public unrest.

Meanwhile, Mohamad also said UMNO–Barisan Nasional is confident that Johor MB Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi will advise the Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar to dissolve the DUN at a time deemed appropriate.

“Dissolving the DUN is the absolute right of Tuanku, upon the advice of the MB. I am confident he will give advice to Tuanku when the time is suitable to hold or dissolve the DUN to enable the state election to be held.

“It could be soon, it could be later. That depends on His Majesty’s discretion,” he said.

However, he clarified that for now the matter of the state election has not yet been discussed at the highest leadership level at the centre. — Focus Malaysia
