The site at the Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad Complex in Kuala Lumpur has been revitalised as a culinary space offering food, culture and community-oriented experiences.

Khazanah said the site, which once served as Kuala Lumpur’s main GPO, has been revitalised as a heritage-based culinary space, bringing together eight local brands offering food, culture and community-oriented experiences, Bernama reported.
Its managing director, Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, said the initiative was not only about conserving historic buildings but also about revitalising Kuala Lumpur as a destination with a distinct identity.
“Through the conservation of heritage assets, we hope to encourage more Malaysians and international tourists to explore the city, thereby supporting local economic activity, strengthening national cultural identity, and boosting the tourism ecosystem and urban economy,” he said.
The opening was attended by federal territories minister Hannah Yeoh and Kuala Lumpur mayor Fadlun Mak Ujud.
In conjunction with the opening, Khazanah launched its “Warkah Untuk Malaysia” campaign, which runs from May 23 to July 31, inviting the public to share their hopes and aspirations for the country through handwritten postcards or digital platforms.
The public is encouraged to take part through special writing spaces at selected venues, including the old GPO, or on online platforms.
Selected submissions will be compiled into a video to be published during the National Month and Malaysia Day celebrations from Aug 31 to Sept 16.
The old GPO is open to the public from 10am to 10pm. - fmt
