Magistrate rules the prosecution had failed to prove they had cheated a businessman in a share transfer deal.

Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against businessmen Siddiq Anwar Batcha, 56, and Abdul Razak Anwar Batcha, 48.
The siblings were accused of deceiving Abdul Razak AS Dawood between December 2011 and December 2012 at PA Abdul Wahab & Co Sdn Bhd, Leboh Ampang, Dang Wangi.
They were accused of inducing him into believing that the company’s shares would be transferred to him once he settled the firm’s debt of RM25,641.14 with Affin Bank Bhd.
The charge was framed under Section 417, read with Section 34, of the Penal Code.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Farhanah Arul Hisham appeared for the prosecution, while the brothers were represented by S Preakas, S Navindren and G Rishyan. - FMT
