Roseline Mapong Sabai, the premier’s political secretary, said she received a WhatsApp message on Wednesday containing a screenshot of the doctored newspaper report which featured an altered version of Unggah’s statement, The Borneo Post reported.
She claimed that the headline of the article had been intentionally altered, with the original headline “Unggal calls for unity in defending Sarawak rights” changed to “Unggah calls for unity in defending Malaya over Sarawak rights”.
“Additionally, the phrase ‘GPS ulun Malaya tetap’ (Gabungan Parti Sarawak remains submissive to Malaya) was included. This altered article aims to create discord between the federal and state governments,” she told reporters outside the Satok police station today.
Roseline said the doctored article was dated Jan 13 and allegedly quoted Unggah as making the remarks during the official Amanat Premier Sarawak event.
She said those responsible were trying to deceive the public as well as insult the GPS government. - FMT
