NAJIB THE FIRST-EVER PM TO USE FOUL WORDS AGAINST THE PEOPLE

NAJIB THE FIRST-EVER PM TO USE FOUL WORDS AGAINST THE PEOPLE
AS his desperation and that of the people grows, the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri) Mohd Najib Abdul Razak, has been reduced to haranguing the rakyat.
In doing so, it shows just how distant he is to the everyday people. Decades of being a Wakil Rakyat had not appeared to bring him any closer to the masses.
On the contrary it seems to reinforce the “orang besar” character in him – of demanding loyalty and freely exercising his prerogative.
Incidentally he is one of the four “Orang Besar Berempat” (The Four Chieftains) of Pahang, carrying the title “Yang Dihormat Orang Kaya Indera Shahbandar”. Little wonder, therefore, that he enjoys the singular support of the Sultan of Pahang.
Mohd Najib: Orang Besar Berempat Pahang
[In the imperial Malay nomenclature, shahdandar is the comptroller of port and, hence, the chief tax collector.]
So when Mohd Najib tries to sound like one of the rakyat, his “orang besar” character and his disconnect with the people become obvious.
First there was the infamous “bangang” label he bestowed upon his own Umno-sponsored bloggers during last year’s Umno General Assembly.
He accused them of being stupid (numskull, fat-headed, nincompoop) for allegedly attacking the party instead of the enemies. Bangang is worse than “bodoh” in the Malay language. In the proper Malay households, “bodoh” is a no-no word.
In substance, however, he was not altogether wrong. There are Umno-sponsored bloggers who deserve that label.
Bangang was followed by “jemuan” when opening the Kedah Umno Convention last March. In Kedah slang, jemuan refers to a very bad person. He said Umno should rid itself of jemuan, acknowledging that there are such people in his own party.
And most recently he warned the Malays that they would be “bangsat” if Umno loses power. Some English media had erroneously translated it as bastard.
Depending on geographical areas and usage, bangsat, according to Dewan Bahasa, can mean a type of foul-smelling bug (pepijat), a bad person, like a thief, or a very poor person. The Dewan gives it English synonyms as rascal, knave, ill-bred and despicable person.
Bangsat is hardly used these days. Like pariah it is considered offensive. In the old northern slang, a poor person who left his place of birth to seek fortune elsewhere was said to gone “membangsat”.
So in my village in Kedah back in the 1950’s and 60’s, many Kelantanese came “membangsat” during the rice harvesting season to work as farm hands and many local people left for the towns to earn a living.
But bangsat is already applicable to the Malays where it connotes poverty and destitution. And Mohd Najib should know because he is responsible for it!
Since he became Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Umno president in 2009, the lot of the Malays and other Bumiputeras had worsened compared to other Malaysians.
Never in the history of the country that income gap between the Malays and the Chinese widened so drastically than between 2009 and 2012. The last time this happened was in 1970.
There was no improvement whatsoever in the monthly income of the Malay households from time Mohd Najib became the PM in 2009 to last year compared to the Chinese.
In fact, the nominal income gap between the Malays and the Chinese had widened by as much as 53 per cent. So, economically the Malays are already “bangsat”.
Mohd Najib had also been reported to label Felda settlers who were not supportive of Umno as “haram jadah” which in English is something like bloody bastard.
Less frequently heard these days are the high-sounding words and phrases like “keterangkuman” (inclusiveness), “rakyat didahulukan” (people first), “Perdana Menteri untuk semua” (Prime Minister for all), “kesederhanaan” and “wasatiyyah” (moderate) that marked the early days of his rule.
Instead, in his desperation to be seen to be close to the people, Mohd Najib has become “celupar” (inappropriate) in his public utterances. He likes to harangue the people and launches tirades against his opponents.
So it wasn’t a big deal when a woman delegate to the recent Langkawi Umno annual general meeting accused the PM of having “kencing” the people. In the contemporary Malay street parlance, to “kencing” is to tell a lie. - http://kadirjasin.blogspot.com/

JOHOR PRINCE TICKS OFF NAJIB GOVT: DON'T USE US TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM YOUR OWN SCANDALS

JOHOR PRINCE TICKS OFF NAJIB GOVT: DON'T USE US TO DIVERT ATTENTION FROM YOUR OWN SCANDALS
Lately I received word that there are some quarters who are instructed to "attack" my father and myself, due to our vocal stand on various issues.
The question is, are we vocal for the benefit of the state and nation, or do we harbour malicious intent towards the country?
We are only concerned about the prosperity of the people, as well as wanting the nation's leaders to carry out their duties with integrity and transparency, for the sake of the rakyat.
However, I am saddened to see that some people, who only think about position, power and personal interests, see my father and I as though we are challenging the government.
If advice and opinions from my father as the Sultan, and myself as the Crown Prince, are to be restricted and disputed, what are the rakyat to hope for?
It is better that we find solutions to the nation's woes, as arguing amongst each other will get us nowhere.
We won't be your scapegoats

I would also like to take this opportunity to stress to certain quarters, not to create issues about my father and I, just to divert attention of the rakyat from more pressing issues.
Do not use us as scapegoats while the current situation deteriorates.
Rather than "attacking" each other, the time and effort would be better spent to solve the problems plaguing our country.
I pray may Allah always bless the people of Johor and Malaysia. Allah save the Sultan. Long live Johor.
HRH Brigadier General Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, The Crown Prince of Johor.

We want Najib to undur, says Maria Chin

Crowd cheers and yells 'Setuju' as Bersih rally organiser backs confidence vote in Parliament

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersih rally organiser Maria Chin Abdullah has backed moves for a confidence vote against Najib Razak in Parliament, telling thousands at a protest rally in the city centre that “our objective is for Najib to ‘undur’ (resign)”.
Speaking to demonstrators gathered in the city centre Chin declared that Malaysians wanted a vote of no-confidence motion to be taken.
“Our objective is for Najib to ‘undur’,” she said. “We have a message to MPs and political parties and everyone in Parliament — we want a vote of no-confidence against Najib”. The crowd responded with cheers and shouts of “Setuju”.
She told protesters not to enter Dataran Merdeka, which has been closed off by Kuala Lumpur City Hall for Merdeka celebrations.
Protestors were urged to stay outside and “fight for clean elections”, one of the objectives of the Bersih coalition of civil society groups, which began as an electoral reform movement.
Other institutional reforms have been included in the group’s objectives and Bersih has planned a series of events over 36 hours in Kuala Lumpur beginning at 2pm today, with similar rallies being held in Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.
Bersih’s call for a confidence motion is the latest in moves by opposition and a sprinkling of Barisan Nasional politicians against Najib, who has faced an assault of criticisms over the year for the affairs of the goverment investment arm 1Malaysia Developmet Bhd and a reported deposit of US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) in his private bank accounts.
Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been at the forefront of a campaign for Najib to resign as prime minister and Umno president. He has backed opposition moves for a confidence motion to force Najib and the formation of a transition government until the next general election, which must be held by 2018.

Zahid: Crucial to woo Gen Y through new technology

Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party and BN should take advantage of new technology to woo Gen Y voters and ensure Umno's relevance.
According to the deputy prime minister, the present Y generation has no nostalgic feelings of the X generation's past contributions but is more concerned about what the latter has to offer them now.
"Public lectures are only effective in reaching 13 percent of the people, who would become the judge in determining the government.
The opposition reaches the other 87 percent through new technology such as social media.
"Hence why it is crucial to use new technology to expound the facts to Gen Y," he said while opening the Beruas Umno delegates meeting at Dewan Inderawati in there today.
Also present were Perak Umno Liaison chairman and Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir, and Beruas Umno division chief Abdul Manaf Hashim.
Ahmad Zahid also pointed out that the educational background, mindset and inclinations of the Y generation, "which are different than those of Gen X", must be given emphasis.
"It is not that we want to sideline the X generation but we cannot run away from giving in to what the Gen Y wants.
"In our time we had the greenboard and chalk but now it is all about the laptop and smartphone," he said, adding that UMNO and the BN had to set aside the conventional approach in communicating with Gen Y.
He also reminded UMNO leaders not to merely be "seasonal leaders", but to be constantly in touch with the grassroots.
"We will not be sitting at the top if not for the support of those below. There must be close rapport between the politicians and government, Gen X and Gen Y and the leaders and grassroots," he said.

Ku Li: I have no problem with Najib

Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said he had no problem with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, although there were talks that some people wanted him to hold the country's 'number one' post.
Tengku Razaleigh, who is also Gua Musang Umno division head, said he had cordial relations with the prime minister and that he frequently held meetings with Najib.
"I had met the prime minister last Sunday. There is no end to the rumour," he told reporters after officiating the delegates meeting of the Gua Musang Umno division at Dewan Bukit Chekati, today.
Also present was Gua Musang Umno division deputy head Nozula Mat Diah.
Tengku Razaleigh (photo), or better known as Ku Li, also reiterated his stand that he would not be contesting in the 14th general elections and that the current term would be his last as the Gua Musang MP.
"I am not retiring (from politics) but I don't want to contest (as the MP for Gua Musang). I have already informed Najib. I feel this is my last term and I hope they all understand," he said.
