PAS vice president Mahfuz Omar has questioned a money transfer of RM308,7000 from Hajj fund Tabung Haji to a personal bank account of its chief executive officer Ismee Ismail.
“Is this a bonus to TH's CEO for his exemplary performance in managing TH’s investment on Silverbird?" asked Mahfuz, referring to recent revelation of a series of bad investment by the organisation, including a loss-making bakery.
Deputy Finance minister Donald Lim had said the transfer was above board and according to procedures.
“But he failed to say why. What was the money for?” insisted Mahfuz, the Pokok Sena member of parliament.
Mahfuz also showed a Tabung Haji document detailing the directive from CEO’s office to the company's banker, to transfer the sum to Ismee’s personal account, without any reason stated.
Mahfuz had earlier raised the issue of TH’s bad investment decisions, including Silverbird which was mired with financial irregularities, as well as RM500 million worth of investments for Putrajaya’s office complexes.
On Silverbird’s fiasco, Mahfuz questioned why the financial irregularities were not noticed by TH representatives on the company board of directors.
He asked whether disciplinary action would be taken against TH representatives in Silverbird’s board of directors.
TH holds a 22.19 percent share while Felda cooperative, Koperasi Permodalan Felda Berhad owns 12.7 percent stakes in Silverbird, a bread and cake manufacturer.
