Former two-term Sabai assemblyperson Kamache Doray Rajoo has announced her exit from DAP, following a similar move by party veteran P Ramasamy earlier today.
"I tendered my resignation to party secretary-general Anthony Loke yesterday. It was a hard decision to make, but it had to be done.
"DAP is no longer the party I first joined. There's no voice for Indian leaders in the party today," she told Malaysiakini.
In addition, Kamache's resignation was also based on her wanting to campaign for incumbent Bagan Dalam assemblyperson Satees Muniandy, who's defending the seat as an independent after being dropped from the DAP line-up.
She questioned the logic behind DAP dropping Satees from contesting, on the basis of "rejuvenating" the party.
"Satees is 38 while Kumaran Krishnan who replaces him (to contest) is 45.
"I don't understand this logic. And until now, no DAP leader, including Loke, has clarified this confusion.
"As a DAP member, I can be sacked from DAP for campaigning for an independent candidate. So I quit by my own accord since I'm campaigning for Satees," she said.
Kamache thanked DAP for giving her the chance to contest in the Sabai state seat for four terms. - Mkini
