SEREMBAN: Deputy law and institutional reform minister Ramkarpal Singh has slammed talk that there can be a change in the federal government if Perikatan Nasional wins in all six states in the coming polls.
Ramkarpal said the claim by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was a “clear-cut lie”.
He said the anti-hopping law, which was enforced last year, would prevent MPs from jumping ship.
The DAP MP said if elected representatives were to switch parties, their seats would be vacated and this would pave the way for a by-election.
“Hadi said if PN won big in the state polls, it could lead to a change of government at the federal level, can we believe this kind of lie?” he said at a PH ceramah tonight.
Ramkarpal said that Hadi wanted to create anxiety among the people by making such claims.
On Sunday, Hadi claimed that if PN wins the state polls in all the six states, it would lead to a change in the federal government.
Ramkarpal said since the unity government came to power eight months ago, it had brought about many positive changes.
However, during the same period, opposition leaders like Hadi and caretaker Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor offered little or no direction. - FMT
