JELEBU: DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook is confident that Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) can win all 36 state seats in Negeri Sembilan.
Speaking at a PH-BN programme in Kampung Chennah, he pointed out that Perikatan Nasional (PN) failed to win any parliamentary seat in Negeri Sembilan in the 15th general election (GE15) last November.
“The ‘wave’ which happened in the last general election did not reach Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
“The voting pattern must consider the trend (from GE15), which was only eight months ago.”
In GE15, BN won five of the eight parliamentary seats in Negeri Sembilan, while PH took the remaining three.
The Seremban MP added that so far, the understanding between the PH and BN election machineries in the state had been positive.
He said Umno’s machinery had been helping DAP candidates, especially in the mixed seats that the party is contesting.
Loke added that he did not expect a hung state assembly after the state election on Saturday as both PH and BN have reached a consensus to build a unity government in Negeri Sembilan.
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan Umno chief Jalaluddin Alias said voting trends have proven that the support among the Malays in the state is strong for Umno and BN.
“When I went down to every state seat, the support and understanding of the Malays towards the cooperation between BN-PH was increasing day by day,” he said. - FMT
