Many constitutional routes to changing govt - PAS MP

The upcoming state elections have the potential to cause a change in the federal government, said Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth head Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.

He said the Federal Constitution has many ways to facilitate this and the key will be PN winning in Selangor.

“In Kelantan, we won’t see the effect because there are few Pakatan Harapan supporters here. But in Selangor, it is very surprising. Support for PN is strong,” he said during a ceramah in Kok Lanas, Kelantan last night.

The telltale sign, he said, would be if Umno supporters start shutting down their operation centres and branches.

“(Last year) in Perlis (it happened). We could feel that a change of government was imminent. Praise be to God. It really happened.

“As for Harapan supporters (in Selangor), we were informed that some of them will not vote on Aug 12. That is why we can compare Selangor today with what happened in Perlis last year,” he said.

Should Harapan and BN fail to retain Selangor, said Ahmad Fadhli, then PN will have a new menteri besar and possibly a new prime minister.

“It is possible that we will also have a new prime minister being sworn in. How can we change (the prime minister)? There are many ways. The Constitution allows many methods.

“Perhaps 10, 15, or 20 Umno MPs might switch allegiances. The Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah leaders are not joining the campaign.

“They just came briefly for the nomination process. That is a signal that their support for (Harapan chairperson) Anwar Ibrahim is not permanent, God willing,” he said.
