Negeri Sembilan Umno gets four out of 10 executive council posts in the newly-formed Negeri Sembilan state administration, including its chief Jalaluddin Alias who is made a senior executive councillor.
According to news reports, the four took their oaths of office together with six other assemblypersons from Pakatan Harapan before the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir at Istana Seri Menanti this morning.
Besides Jalaluddin, who is Pertang representative, the three other assemblypersons from Umno who were made members of the council are Ismail Lasim (Senaling), Mustapha Nagoor (Palong) and Mohd Faizal Ramli (Linggi).
Harapan component DAP also gets four seats in the council, while PKR gets two.
The state executive council is chaired by the state Harapan chairperson Aminuddin Harun, who is from PKR. The Sikamat assemblyperson was sworn in as the menteri besar on Aug 14.
The four exco members from DAP are Teo Kok Seong (Bahau), J Arul Kumar (Nilai), Nicole Tan (Bukit Kepayang) and S Veerapan (Repah), while PKR is represented by Noorzunita Begum Abdullah (Pilah) and Tengku Zamrah Sulaiman (Ampangan).
Harapan and BN formed the state government after they won 31 out of 36 state seats in the Aug 12 state polls. Of these, 17 were won by Harapan while Umno 14.
Five other seats were won by Perikatan Nasional.
Meanwhile, Jalaluddin reportedly said BN was hoping to get five spots in the state executive council but it is satisfied with four.
"After BN and Harapan leadership held a discussion, we reached a collective agreement to prioritise stability of the unity government.
"We have considered the allocations from every perspective and agreed to have four excos from BN, four from DAP and two from PKR," he said, as quoted by Malaysia Gazette.
He also expressed his appreciation for being given the senior exco position, saying that it is a form of recognition for BN. - Mkini
