Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has denied that he missed events over the weekend because he was being put in cold storage, being threatened, or ordered to keep quiet.
The real reason, he revealed, was much more mundane.
“I had to attend a central PAS meeting and several other meetings in Kuala Lumpur.
“I travelled by car and returned late, so of course I could not attend the programmes I was scheduled to attend. I had to rest,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.
On Saturday, Sanusi (above) missed a campaign event in Padang Serai, Kedah.
An organiser at the event, as well as Padang Serai MP Azman Nasrudin, said the Kedah caretaker menteri besar was summoned by police that day.
However, Sanusi and the police have denied this.
On Sunday, Sanusi missed another event, this time a ceramah in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
While announcing his absence, Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden acknowledged that Sanusi attended a meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
However, Afnan also claimed the Kedah Perikatan Nasional chief was advised not to attend the ceramah to avoid walking into a “trap”.
‘Other secret measures’
Sanusi, however, downplayed the allegation.
“The safety (aspect) among others, was not to drive too fast to reach faster.
“Kedah PAS took safety measures to reduce my activities so I am not rushing from here to there. A lot of things can happen while travelling.
“However, there were other advice and measures which need to be kept secret,” he said.
Sanusi also apologised to his supporters who were hoping to see him at the weekend events and said he would meet them next time. - Mkini
