Pahang Perikatan Nasional confirmed it will contest the Pelangai by-election, according to its chairperson Saifuddin Abdullah.
“PN is discussing about the most suitable candidate,” he told Bernama briefly in Kuantan today.
Meanwhile Pahang PAS deputy commissioner Andasura Rabu said they have handed a list of candidates to the central leadership for consideration and would meet next week to discuss the by-election.
The Election Commission has set Oct 7 as the polling day for the by-election, with nominations on Sept 23 and early voting on Oct 3.
The state seat fell vacant following the death of Pelangai assemblyperson Johari Harun, 53, in a plane crash in Elmina, Shah Alam on Aug 17.
The electoral roll for Pelangai shows that there are 16,456 registered voters, 16,417 of them ordinary voters, 36 police personnel, and three voters abroad.
