PASIR PUTEH: Police have arrested a man who is suspected to have shot a 27-year-old motorist at Kampung Teleson here yesterday.
District police chief Superintendent Aizul Rizal Zakaria said the 45-year-old suspect was detained soon after police received a report on the incident.
He said the report was lodged at the district police station at 5.55am yesterday.
"The report was about a 27-year-old man who was injured on his left leg after he was shot by a man.
"The incident happened when the victim and several friends went to a workshop to repair his car.
"Suddenly, several men travelling in another car, arrived and one of them opened several shots towards the victim and his friend," he said in a statement
Aizul said the bullets hit the victim's leg. The suspect and his friends escaped from the scene later.
"The victim was rushed to Tengku Anis Hospital but was later transferred to Raja Perempuan Zainab II hospital in Kota Baru.
"He is reported to be in stable condition," he added.
He said the suspect was being held for further action. Police are investigating the motive behind the incident. - NST
