Selangor MB reveals excos' portfolios, to handle five

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has revealed the portfolios for the state’s executive council members, five of which he himself will handle.

Speaking at the foyer of the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Building in Shah Alam, Amirudin outlined an extensive array of roles that he and the 10 exco members will undertake throughout the tenure of the recently inaugurated state government.

The five portfolios that Amirudin will be handling are land and natural resources development, finance and economy, modernisation and digitisation of government administration, strategic communication, as well as education and human capital development.

Kinrara assemblyperson Nge Sze Han will head the investment and trade, small and medium enterprises (SME) development and mobility, while Pandan Indah rep Izham Hashim will oversee infrastructure and agriculture development.

Tanjong Sepat assemblyperson Borhan Aman Shah will take charge of housing development as well as Malay culture, customs and heritage, while Banting assemblyperson V Papparaidu will take charge of human resources and poverty eradication.

Subsequently, Sekinchan representative Ng Suee Lim is the executive councillor for local government and tourism, while Sungai Tawar assemblyperson Rizam Ismail is responsible for the rural development and unity portfolios.

Three on first term as reps

Bandar Utama assemblyperson Jamaliah Jamaluddin is set to oversee the public health and environment portfolio, while Kota Anggerik assemblyperson Najwan Halimi will lead both the youth, sports, entrepreneurship and disaster management.

In another development, Seri Setia assemblyperson Fahmi Ngah holds the position of executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation, while Taman Templer assemblyperson Anfaal Saari leads the committee for women's development and community welfare.

Sze Han, Suee Lim, and Papparaidu will collectively serve as the co-chairs of the special committee overseeing Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Taoism (Limas).

During the Aug 12 state elections, Pakatan Harapan-BN won 34 seats in Selangor, of which 15 were won by DAP, PKR (12), Amanah (five), and Umno (two).

It also saw more than half of Amirudin's new state exco list being first-time members, including three on their first term as assemblyperson.

Only three exco members - Sze Han, Izham and Borhan - were retained from Amirudin’s former exco line-up.

In a similar development, Amirudin also expressed his commitment to fulfilling the five proposals put forth by Selangor Harapan-BN on Aug 11 within the upcoming 100 days starting from today.

The state government’s pledges, as listed in the Harapan-BN manifesto, include an annual incentive of RM1,000 for 5,000 working mothers; an exemption of assessment fees (cukai pintu) for low-cost housing; book vouchers worth RM200 for 1,000 college students; monthly allowance increment for mosque committee leaders; and an incentive of RM1,000 to farmers in the state. - Mkini
