Take responsibility for PN's loss in N Sembilan, Muhyiddin told

Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin should take responsibility for the coalition’s failure to win Negeri Sembilan in the Aug 12 state elections, said Bersatu information committee member Badrul Hisham Shaharin.

Badrul, who is better known as Chegubard, said this was a result of Muhyiddin’s decision to appoint Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu as Negeri Sembilan PN chairperson, which made it difficult for the coalition to take over the state.

“The list of candidates where some were above 70 years old, some who were not ready to contest, no machinery, no financial preparations, is very weird and seems to be to lose deliberately.

“Candidates who were more prepared were sidelined with stupid excuses, such as eight Umno division chiefs who were suggested to be candidates are 75 years old,” Badrul (above, left) said in a Facebook posting yesterday.

In the last state polls, PN only won five of the 36 seats they contested in Negeri Sembilan, while Pakatan Harapan and BN won the rest of the seats to comfortably form a government in the state with a two-thirds majority.

Badrul said the Negeri Sembilan people’s spirit for change was “betrayed” by the way PN handled the election in the state.

“So many big issues in Negeri Sembilan were not raised during the state polls. Were there any negotiations?”

While he said a mistake in their strategy could be accepted, no one has come forth to take responsibility for PN’s defeat in the state.

Strength from grassroots

Badrul also said he had reminded Muhyiddin that the strength of Bersatu and PN is not the top leadership but the grassroots and the “wave” from the rakyat.

On a separate matter, he also questioned why Kedah Bersatu only named three elected representatives to fill exco positions in the state government as well as one for the legislative assembly deputy speaker.

Badrul claimed this was revealed through a letter from the Kedah Bersatu to the state's Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.

"How can this happen? As this decision is different from the decision of central Bersatu," he said. - Mkini
