Wave of youth support bigger, earlier than GE15 - Tuan Ibrahim

STATE POLLS | PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said youth support for Perikatan Nasional in the state polls is more extensive and had arrived earlier than the 15th general election (GE15) last November.

"In GE15, we did not see (the wave) happen as millions of young voters were newly registered in the electoral roll, and we didn't know which way they will go.

"Only on the eve of GE15 did we see them supporting PN.

“But now, for the state election, we already see youths backing PN even before the nomination day in the six states," Utusan Malaysia quoted Tuan Ibrahim (above) saying at a ceramah in Padang Terap, Kedah, last night.

He further claimed that the massive wave of youth support has worried Pakatan Harapan and BN.

As a result, the (federal) government has started targeting Kedah caretaker menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, who's leading the charge for PN, Tuan Ibrahim said.

"They see who's heading the charge, and they are worried. They (Harapan/BN) even dream about Sanusi while sleeping.

"As the PN elections director, Sanusi is like our military commander. He knows how to face (the situation) and the strategies to make."

Tuan Ibrahim said if the wave of support for PN translates into a massive victory for the coalition across the six states, the outcome could disrupt Harapan's position in the federal government.

On July 18, Sanusi was slapped with two charges of sedition at the Sessions Court in Selayang over his ceramah on July 11.

Both charges accused him of uttering words that had the tendency to incite disloyalty against a ruler.

The PAS leader claimed trial for both charges. - Mkini
