BARELY a month after causing a stir with PAS for involving Muslim staff of the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) in a Christmas carolling session on the eve of Yuletide, Nga Kor Ming is back to usher the coming year of the snake with the multi-racial and multi-religious staff of his ministry.
This was evident as KPKT once again embraced the spirit of harmony and togetherness by adorning its lobby with vibrant Chinese New Year (CNY) decorations ahead of the festivity next week (Jan 29 and 30).
Committed to celebrating cultural diversity and emphasising the importance of fostering national unity through inclusivity, the DAP vice-chairman is adamant to convey a message to his detractors that nothing will stand in his way “to strengthen unity and foster goodwill in Malaysia’s multi-cultural society”.

“At KPKT, we take pride in celebrating major festivals like Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, Christmas and Chinese New Year. We hope that festivities like these can enhance inter-ethnic relationships and further solidify harmony within our plural society,” enthused Nga who is affably known as Abang Kor Meng to his Malay staff.
Speaking about Malay staff, it is certainly heart-warming to see them gracing – and even fronting – what is presumed to be a group photo that was shared with the media (see main image).
Underscoring that unity in diversity and harmonious coexistence are the twin pillars of Malaysia’s success, the Teluk Intan MP noted that the country is now recognised as one of the ten most peaceful nations in the world.
“Therefore, it is crucial for all Malaysians to stand firmly with the Madani government to continue developing the nation’s economy,” his statement read.
The Perak DAP chairman also extended an invitation to fellow Malaysians e to join the KPKT Chinese New Year Open House at his ministry slated for Feb 6 from 12.30 pm. – Focus Malaysia
