Sabah corruption: LFL to submit unedited videos to MACC

Lawyers for Liberty (LFL) executive director Zaid Malek will be submitting the full unedited videos on the Sabah corruption scandal to the MACC today, according to the former MACC chief commissioner Latheefa Koya.

Latheefa said Zaid will head to the MACC’s headquarters in Putrajaya at around 2pm to hand over a USB drive and the original device used by a whistleblower to record the videos implicating Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, eight assemblypersons and the Sabah assembly speaker.

“Finally there can be no more excuses for the MACC to not investigate the case,” she said during a joint press conference with Zaid at LFL’s office in Petaling Jaya.

Latheefa, who is also a co-founder of LFL, revealed the unedited videos were obtained directly from the whistleblower who reached out for LFL’s assistance to push for an MACC probe.

‘His name is Albert’

The whistleblower was previously identified as a businessperson but Latheefa today gave his name as “Albert”.

“He has not been named before this. His name is Albert.

“I won't mention his surname because of legitimate concerns for his safety, which I think we all understand,” she added.

Last November, Malaysiakini reported that the whistleblower claimed he had received an alleged death threat via a WhatsApp call and images sent to his phone. - Mkini
