KUALA LUMPUR: Several districts across three states are now at Level 1, or alert status, after recording maximum daily temperatures of up to 37 degrees Celsius for three consecutive days.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the three affected states are Bandar Baharu in Kedah; Larut, Matang, Kuala Kangsar and Perak Tengah in Perak as well as Machang and Kuala Krai in Kelantan.
Meanwhile, other states including Sabah and Sarawak recorded daily temperatures below 35 degrees Celsius.
As such, it advises the public to take precautionary measures to avoid health risks due to prolonged hot weather.
These include avoiding physical activities under direct sunlight, drinking adequate water, and staying in shaded or air-conditioned areas. - NST
