PETALING JAYA: There was no fire incident involving any Rapid KL train coach or facility, contrary to a video that has been circulating on social media since yesterday.
Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana), in a statement, said the viral video allegedly showing an Ampang Line LRT coach on fire was false.
"Internal checks and verification by our operations team confirmed that all train services are operating as usual without any disruption," it said today.
It added that Prasarana views the spread of false information seriously, as it can cause public concern and damage the reputation of the country's public transport system.
Prasarana also said it would not hesitate to take appropriate action against individuals found spreading fake news or causing public confusion.
"The public is advised not to share unverified content and to obtain the latest information only through Rapid KL's official channels," it said.
Earlier, a video allegedly showing a burning Ampang Line train coach had gone viral on TikTok, drawing public attention. However, checks today found that the original video has since been deleted. - NST
