PKR will take action against those spreading slander, false accusations, says sec-gen

 

PETALING JAYA: PKR will not hesitate to take action against those spreading slander or accusations against its leadership without any basis, says Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh.

The PKR secretary-general said legal action will be considered and taken where appropriate, be it against party members or those from outside.

“PKR takes a serious view of the recent viral allegations attempting to link the party leadership to claims of receiving money to settle matters related to certain interests, including allegations involving elements of a 'corporate mafia'.

“These accusations are easy to make, what more by those desperate to evade their own wrongdoings. Any accusations made without strong evidence should not be treated as facts, what more material aimed at tarnishing the reputation of individuals or the party,” she said in a statement on Wednesday (March 25).

PKR, she said, remains committed to defending the integrity of its leaders alongside ensuring that any complaints raised are managed through the official channels and based on facts instead of specific perceptions or agendas.

“Everyone is advised to be more responsible when delivering information as spreading unverified claims can create confusion and impact the country’s political stability,” she said.

This comes after a businessman - Victor Chin, also known as Chin Boon Loong - produced a 40-page document, which includes claims that a Pakatan Harapan MP asked for RM10mil to resolve the issue, though he only managed to provide RM9.5mil initially.

Chin alleged the final RM500,00 was withheld because the promised resolution never materialised.

The “corporate mafia” claims involve allegations that senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers orchestrated intimidation campaigns, which allegedly pressured executives and shareholders of public-listed firms to resign or sell their shares at steep discounts to a network of connected businessmen.

The MACC have since denied the claims, labelling them as an attempt to tarnish the credibility of its investigations and enforcement actions. - Star
