When a fireworks shop catches fire, expect hell to break loose

 

MALAYSIANS have ample reasons to feel grateful, living far away from the middle east where all the massive “fireworks,” are happening. 

But a recent video on the internet showed that perhaps war has arrived at the shores of Malaysia too.

In a video post on X by netizen @kamaghul, several staff from a Mamak restaurant could be seen scrambling about closing the shutters as rockets and sparks screamed in every direction.

This is no Israeli or American weaponry, but rather a fireworks shop that went up in flames. 

Several netizens in the comment section lamented that law enforcement is lacking, that such businesses can simply operate and endanger others.

Looking at all the fire power, anyone can tell that the stockpile of fireworks is quite substantial too.

News portal The Star revealed that the fireworks stall was located in Taman Pekaka, Nibong Tebal, Penang.

Apparently, the blaze triggered multiple explosions, sending flames and firecrackers flying and causing panic among nearby residents and diners.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director John Sagun Francis told the New Straits Times that the fire involved a 10 by 10 sq ft stall selling fireworks, which was 95 per cent destroyed.

According to him, a motorcycle was damaged in the incident and the fire also spread to three external air-conditioning units of a nearby house.
