PEOPLE who have been reading the papers lately would come across this novel news about a fireworks shop catching fire and causing all sorts of mayhem in the neighbourhood.
It is already common knowledge that fireworks are dangerous.
Regardless, all that flash and boom are so ingrained within Malaysian culture that any Malay, Indian or Chinese celebration feels incomplete without this money burning activity.
But for some people, there is no such thing as too much danger. There is always the next level.
And expect this endeavour to be happily taken up by no one else but our one and only Mat Rempit.
In a video post on X by netizen @mynewshub, two Mat Rempit could be seen performing the signature Wheelie while two sparklers were attached to the rear of their bike, blazing the way.
Looking at the brief video, we can all agree that there are many creative ways to celebrate Hari Raya.
But landing in the hospital with several broken limbs and first degree burns is not one of those ways.
Fortunately, the two Mat Rempits were forced to see the error of their ways when they were nabbed by the traffic police of Temerloh district last Sunday.
According to news portal Astro Awani, the culprits were 17 and 22 years old.
Apparently they were spotted during Op Samseng Jalanan in the area of Lurah Semantan, Jalan Ahmad Shah, Jalan Tun Ismail dan Jalan Pak Sako which started at 1.30 am and ended at 6 am.
According to Temerloh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Mohd Yusoff, as many as 300 vehicles were examined during the operation.
“This operation targets motorcyclists following numerous complaints about rider misconduct, particularly involving modified exhausts and illegal street racing,” he said. — Focus Malaysia
